Would you buy from this man?\u00a0No?<\/h3>\n

OK, it’s a cliche not to trust a second-hand car salesman, but\u00a0cliches apart, why wouldn’t you buy a car from him?<\/p>\n

Is it the way he looks or is it the world that he represents, Perhaps you have been taught never to trust men in sheepskin coats, offering you a deal that is good too good to be true?\u00a0 But surely for all we know he may actually be honest, trustworthy and give excellent value for money in his business dealings….<\/p>\n

What makes us trust a person or\u00a0organisation? In contrast to ‘Honest Ron’ here, those of us who work in churches or charities could perhaps once have assumed we\u00a0held public\u00a0trust; after all, we are good people doing good things aren’t we?<\/p>\n

However, recent history in both the charity sector and the church has sadly damaged that instinctive trust in a society that is already less instinctively trusting of institutions and organisations than it once was.\u00a0 We can no longer assume\u00a0 trust from the general public as a right.<\/p>\n
