Dirty cup culture – 17 June 2015

What reallly irritates you when  you get to work each morning?

In every organisation this might be different, although, travelling around as I do, my experience is that yesterday’s (or in extreme cases, last month’s) coffee mugs festering in the sink seems to feature fairly highly in many people’s minds!

Whatever it is, how do you fix it.  Sorry, but creating yet another rota or stern notice that everyone will do their best to ignore is unlikely to work.    Even If you ‘fix’ the coffee cup problem, there will always be something else – should I mention the state of the toilets or the fact that no-one EVER remembers to re-order paper when they open the last box at this point?

To apparently completely change tack, this is really a post about organisational culture, not really one about coffee cups at all.  The sinks, cisterns  and storage cupboards often tell you far more about how an organisation really works than you might imagine.

So, how would you change your organisational culture if you could (and you can!)?
