Those of us who have worked with charities for any length of time will know both the excitement of receiving the grant cheque envelope and the the fear of it either n0t arriving or not containing what you had hoped for.
Many smaller organisations can feel like they are existing ‘hand to mouth’ with future plans, or even survival, heavily dependent on that envelope’s contents. Recent research has shown nearly half of all small charities are c0ncerned about their short to medium term future and there is little evidence that this will improve soon.
So what can we do?
Building a long term, broad-based and robust funding strategy can be challenging, but is an essential part of growing a successful organisation. The adrenaline rush of opening that envelope, whatever news it contains, will probably always be part of the life of smaller charities, but contact me if I can help to make sure it isn’t necessarily make or break time for your organisation.
