Talking to lots of different charities, I am often asked what one thing will help to raise the money they really need.
Sadly, if there was one simple answer to that question, I would have written the book and retired on the proceeds by now! Of course, the reality is complex, but one important factor is undoubtedly vision.
There are thousands of excellent charities doing wonderful work, but my experience is that many struggle to articulate the vision that leads them to do what they do; if you like the ‘why’ that underpins the ‘what’ of their charitable activity.
Funders receive many more applications that they can possibly fund and are often faced with tough choices about which of the excellent projects they are presented with will receive their grant. Each funder will have different criteria they use to make their decision, but a sense of clear vision is often one of them. Understanding what underpins and motivates the applicant charity, what gives it life and excitement can be a powerful incentive for support
If your charity struggles to express the ‘why’ of what you do, however good you are at the ‘what’, maybe I can help. Contact me to find out more.
