Conductor, guard dog or scapegoat?

Church administrationI recently ran a one day workshop for church administrators.  During the day we spent some time reflecting on how they might best describe the main elements of their role.

If you are a church administrator or work with someone who is, I wonder of any of the below descriptions resonate with you?

Feel free to suggest your own!

Guard dog – protecting the clergy or others from all comers

Conductor – making sure all parts of the church work in harmony.

Oil can – stepping in to keep the wheels turning

Chief dispenser of tea and sympathy

Jack of all trades – if it needs sorting, guess who will do it

Chief enforcer – the one who makes sure things get done around here

Scapegoart – for when you need to find a person to blame
